MIDDLE SCHOOL

CHOOSE 1 - 4 WEEKS (GRADES 6-8)

MORNING adventures have a different theme each week and provide a well-rounded educational experience focused on academics.
Instruction includes language arts skills (reading comprehension and writing organization); math skills (general operations and pre-algebra skills); and executive functioning skills (time management, event planning, and organization). Students will make connections between academic lessons and the real world in a supportive environment.

Morning Themes Overview
  • Week 1: Mission to Mars
Reach for the stars! Students will practice skills vital to planning for the future, calculate distances and directions, and read about epic journeys to the stars.
  • Week 2: Dystopian Futures
What do you do when everything goes wrong? Students will learn how to deal with setbacks productively, how to solve difficult mathematical problems, and create stories about what happens when the worst comes to pass.
  • Week 3: Dangerous Technology
Have you ever felt like your computer is out to get you? This week, students will read about technology gone wrong, learn to utilize their technological resources in a positive way, and practice managing numbers so that they maintain a sense of control.
  • Week 4: Time travel
Classes will experience epic histories and alternate futures. Students will read stories that deal with time travel, practice time management skills, and sharpen their number sense.
AFTERNOON courses will allow students to choose from a variety of options that include crafts, sports, and game design.  More details on these interactive, hands-on courses can be found on the registration form.
