Through the social sciences, students have the opportunity to explore history, social relationships, human development, civics, and government.
As students learn from the past, they gain a better understanding of the present and wisdom for the future. In addition, social studies courses provide a platform for students to form evidence-based opinions and to interact with fellow students through lively discussion and debate. Field trips and interactive experiences reinforce classroom instruction and bring history alive. To prepare our students for classes they will encounter after graduation from Jemicy, all seniors take Modern World History, which is modeled after a college level class in both structure and content. With the support of their teacher, students tackle challenging material and are held to college level expectations.
