The math curriculum focuses on developing strong computation and problem-solving skills, as well as analytic reasoning and fluency, while building confidence, communication, and test-taking and study strategies. The use of manipulatives facilitates instruction, and small class sizes enable students to receive more personalized attention and pacing. A course such as Jemicy’s integrated Geometry and Woodworking class provides a hands-on experience for learning geometry concepts, and the Kinetic Sculpture class, which is an art elective, enables students to apply complex math and physics concepts to real-world problems.
Jemicy understands that, developmentally, students acquire math skills at different rates and, therefore, offers two levels, accelerated and standard, to accommodate the needs of our students. Students have the ability to transition between levels as needed.
