The goal of the middle school math program is to help students become independent learners and prepare them to meet the challenges of high school math and beyond. The students develop math skills, organization skills, and strategies needed to solve problems. Students move through the curriculum as slowly as needed and as quickly as they are able.
The Math Department utilizes a variety of programs depending on the specific needs of each student. Students are grouped according to math skill level; they move through the program at their own pace. Students learn and review fractions, decimals, ratios, proportion, percentages, integers, variables, unit multipliers, and algebra concepts. Currently we teach through Algebra I, yet program for students ready for more advanced math if needed.
