Maximize Your Impact
TAX-ADVANTAGED GIVING OPTIONS
There are many ways to support Jemicy School other than a standard cash donation. Giving through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) or Individual Retirement Account (IRA) allows you to make a significant impact on Jemicy School while potentially enjoying valuable tax benefits.

List of 3 items.

  • Give from your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)

A Donor-Advised Fund is a centralized charitable account that allows you to open a fund with a tax-deductible contribution, grow the funds tax-free, and recommend a grant to Jemicy School when you choose and in the amount you choose.
  • Give from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA)

If you are 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to Jemicy School. This is known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).

    The benefits of a QCD:
    • Tax Savings: An eligible QCD is generally excluded from your taxable income, which may provide a tax benefit even if you do not itemize deductions. Because the distribution is excluded from income, you generally cannot also claim it as a charitable deduction.
    • Satisfy RMDs: If you are required to take a Required Minimum Distribution, generally beginning at age 73, an eligible QCD may count toward your RMD for the year.
    • Immediate Impact: Your contribution goes straight to work supporting Jemicy’s programs.
How to make an IRA gift: Contact your IRA administrator and instruct them to transfer funds directly to Jemicy School.  Please note: To qualify for the tax benefits, the check or electronic transfer must be issued directly from your IRA to our organization; do not withdraw the funds to a personal account first.
  • Let Us Thank You!

When gifts are transferred directly from a DAF or IRA, they sometimes arrive without the donor's name attached. Please let us know if you have directed a gift to us so we can properly acknowledge your generosity and ensure your donation is allocated as you intend!

MATCHING
Many companies offer matching gift programs that will double and even triple your donation’s value. Please check with your personnel administrator to find out if your company will match your contribution to Jemicy School.
Designated
UNITED WAY
Jemicy is eligible for United Way of Central Maryland funds, because our school is dedicated to the health, well-being, and education of children with language-based learning differences. To designate your United Way gift to Jemicy, you must write the school’s designation number (#1811) on the back of your United Way pledge card. Please request an acknowledgement, so we have the opportunity to thank you for your contribution.

Remember to ask your family, friends, and co-workers to consider making their United Way contributions to Jemicy as well! This is a meaningful way for everyone to participate in the United Way Campaign and to know that your designation is making a tremendous difference.
In Honor or In Memory
GIFTS
Jemicy’s growing endowment provides unrestricted and restricted funds for ongoing operational support, financial aid, professional outreach, and teaching resources. Donors who give $50,000 or more may name a permanently endowed fund in honor or in memory of a Jemicy parent, grandparent, alumnus, student, teacher, or friend. For information about how to begin an endowed fund, please contact the Development Office at 410-753-8020.
