Jemicy School’s internationally award-winning performing arts program is modeled after conservatory-style, professional theatre programs and provides students with a rigorous curriculum supported by a variety of extra-curricular hands-on production experiences.

Whether interested in exploring something new, developing a natural talent, or preparing for future collegiate study, students can participate at any level of interest and experience as they further both their academic and artistic pursuits. Jemicy Upper School students must earn one (1) credit in either visual or performing arts. Level II and advanced coursework are available to those students who complete the introductory level courses.

The International Thespian Society
TROUPE 8269

Jemicy’s Troupe 8269 of The International Thespian Society, the national honor society for students within the theatre arts, was officially chartered in March 2016. Students earn points towards induction through their participation in theatrical productions both on stage and backstage.

Having qualified for both the Maryland State and International Thespian Festivals, Jemicy’s thespians have been continuously ranked superior across multiple performance categories, selected for the coveted Festival Showcase, and cast in the highly selective commissioned play at the International Thespian Festival,

9 senior thespians were recognized in statewide and national competitions, earning 24 awards for their work in multiple musical and dramatic productions during their Jemicy tenure.
8 seniors were recognized as thespian scholars at graduation.
