"Fashion with a Purpose" Documentary Honored in NYC
Congrats to these rising stars! This past weekend, a group of alumni joined faculty in New York City to celebrate the viewing of a documentary they created from 2022-2024, while they were students at the Upper School. “Fashion with a Purpose,” the brainchild of the videography students and teacher, Leslie Furlong, was chosen to be premiered this year at the prestigious All-American High School Film Festival in Times Square!
The documentary chronicles the partnership between Jemicy’s fashion design class and Penn-Mar Human Services that involved Jemicy students designing inclusive, adaptive clothing for people with developmental disabilities.
Faye Tennis, Ryleigh Postma, Dylan Clink, Matt Pessagno, Max Burman, were able to attend the screening. Maya Glass, one of the designers also joined in the fun. Faye also came back to campus last week to be interviewed by WMAR, along with Visual Arts Department Chair Pauline Savage, about the project. View interview in bio. These students and their work keep rising to new heights!
