Students are enrolled in two classes of English each day, one dedicated to literature and one to composition.
Students learn to think and respond critically, creatively, and purposefully to literature. Students develop vocabulary and writing skills necessary to meet the demands of college-level courses and the competitive work environment. Eight credits (two each year) are required for graduation.
  • English 9 — Ancient and World Literature 
  • English 10 — Modern World Literature
  • English 11 — American Literature 
  • English 12 — British Literature
In addition to their two (2) required English classes, students may choose to enroll in English electives such as Adventure Literature, Creative Writing, African American Literature, and Protest Literature.
