Students learn the difference between fiction and non-fiction books and how to make predictions, inferences, and connections within a story and between various books.
Students in the JE Community and M Group have library class weekly. They interact with the stories, look for deeper meanings, and participate in group discussions. Activities related to the book often help with comprehension and add meaning for the students. Students are familiarized with parts of books, including end papers, title, author, illustrator, and publisher. They also learn about library citizenship, how to pick out “just the right book,” and how to take care of it.
