Announcing $3 Million Gift from Sandra & Malcolm Berman

Donation is the largest ever in the school’s 50-year history!  We are thrilled to announce a $3 million gift from Sandra and Malcolm Berman. The Bermans are committed philanthropists with strong ties to the Jemicy community and a deep caring for children with dyslexia or other related language-based learning differences.

The Bermans’ transformational gift will help accommodate Jemicy’s growing enrollment through additional classrooms and student gathering spaces that will support and enhance the school’s programs, and it will also facilitate an invigorating and stimulating campus experience. Plans are underway for new facilities on both the Lower and Middle School Campus and on the Upper School Campus.

“This gift will directly impact the number of students whose lives will be transformed by the Jemicy experience,” said Head of School Ben Shifrin. “The Bermans’ long-standing commitment and connection to the school as grandparents and great-grandparents of Jemicy students affirm their belief in our program, but more importantly, support that they witnessed firsthand. If taught the way they learn best with research-based methodologies in a caring and supportive environment, students who learn differently can excel in amazing ways.”

The Bermans are inspired by Jemicy’s evolution over the course of its history, its mission, the commitment of faculty and administration, and the strong sense of community they felt and observed when they attended the recent 50th Jubilee celebration in April.
