One of the main components of a lesson is spelling dictation, and students enjoy using a multitude of mediums from markers, chalk, iPad apps, etc. to spell.
For language skills instruction, Jemicy follows its own Orton Gillingham-based scope and sequence developed by Jemicy skills teachers. Both lower and middle school students are given comprehensive benchmarks to determine which concepts they need to review and learn during their year.
Pictured are students working on final ci/ti endings (tial, cial, tious, cious) who chose to write their dictated words on the window using window markers. When students are given choice and variety, tasks such as spelling become less daunting!
