As we move into the 2020 - 2021 school year, we have worked tirelessly to plan for multiple learning environments — physical in-school, online virtual, and hybrid. We feel we are prepared for any eventuality; however, a sustained, physical return to school is much preferred, as most people realize the educational, social, and emotional benefits of in-person learning.
Jemicy’s plan for reopening our campuses is informed by recommendations provided by the CDC, MSDE, AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics), and Harvard School of Public Health). Working within those guidelines, our “re-entry team,” (administration, a Hopkins’ epidemiologist, an ER doctor, and nurses) developed a “layered” defense protocol because we understand that no single control strategy alone can limit the transmission of COVID-19.
We urge each member of our school community (administrators, teachers, staff, students, and parents) to be a partner in our efforts to successfully implement our in-person learning plan by responsibly safeguarding their own health and safety as well as the well-being of those with whom they interact.
