Designate United Way Donations to Jemicy School Jemicy holds a unique place within eligibility for United Way of Central Maryland funds because our school is dedicated to the health, well-being, and education of children with language-based learning differences. To designate your United Way gift to Jemicy, you must write the school’s designation number #1811 on the back of your United Way pledge card. Please request an acknowledgement so we have the opportunity to thank you for your contribution. Remember to ask your family, friends and co-workers to consider making their United Way contributions to Jemicy as well! This is a meaningful way for everyone to participate in the United Way Campaign and to know that your designation is making a tremendous difference. Outright Gifts Jemicy welcomes contributions by check or through Visa, MasterCard or American Express. Cash gifts entitle the donor to an income tax deduction in the year of the gift. All contributions receive a printed acknowledgement. Matching Gifts Many companies offer matching gift programs that will double and even triple your donation’s value. Please check with your personnel administrator to find out if your company will match your contribution to Jemicy School. Planned Giving Trusts and Bequests Including Jemicy in your will or estate trust are meaningful ways to strengthen the school for future generations. In 2004 we established the Margaret Rawson Legacy Circle to recognize those individuals who have chosen to be part of our Planned Giving program. Each year a listing of members of this Legacy Circle appears in the school’s Annual Report. Endowment and Financial Aid Funds Gifts in Honor or in Memory Jemicy’s growing endowment provides unrestricted and restricted funds for ongoing operational support, financial aid, professional outreach, and teaching resources. Donors who give $50,000 or more may name a permanently endowed fund in honor or in memory of a Jemicy parent, grandparent, alumnus, student, teacher or friend. For information about how to begin an endowed fund, please contact the Development Office. Gifts to the Jemicy Endowment are subject to donor restrictions and to the Board of Trustees spending rule. No more than 5% of the market value of any fund (based on a trailing three-year average calculated on June 30th of each year) may be applied to annual operating support. Reports on the use of endowment funds are made to donors in the fall of each year. |
