Egg Drop

eggdropA Jemicy tradition, on Friday, May 6, 2011, I Group students held their annual Egg Drop competition.
Students were tasked with creating a protective structure, which would shelter a raw egg when hoisted onto a pavement from the top of an outdoor staircase. The designs varied considerably: several employed plastic bag “parachutes” to facilitate landing; one cushioned its “payload” in a bed of Twinkies; and another utilized straws for legs, in an attempt to replicate the lunar landing module. This was another great example of hands-on, multisensory, experiential learning at its best.
