Students learn the difference between fiction and non-fiction books and how to make predictions, inferences, and connections within a story and between various books.
Students in the JE Community and M Group have dedicated time to learn and explore library/research skills. They interact with the stories, look for deeper meanings, and participate in group discussions. Activities related to the book often help with comprehension and add meaning for the students. Just as in Language Arts classes, students are familiarized with parts of books, including end papers, title, author, illustrator, and publisher. They also learn about library citizenship and book management/care.
